June 07, 2018 Friends of the Children–Austin Is A Critical Initiative for School Preparedness A study showed less than half of Central Texas kindergarteners were prepared for school in 2017. Fifty-one percent of Central Texas students were unprepared for kindergarten in 2017. Community Advancement Network (CAN), a consortium of government, private, nonprofit and faith-based organizations collaborate to gather data on socio-economic indicators in Travis County.
