A Summer Fueled by Soccer

Soccer connected nearly every part of our summer, from time on the field and matches watched together to soccer-themed learning at Book Camp.

Soccer was everywhere this summer.

Our youth played alongside their Friends, watched matches together, and carried that excitement into Book Camp, where soccer became part of the learning experience. From the field to the classroom, the sport gave youth new ways to connect, grow, and discover what captured their interest.

It also brought youth from across our program together. While each child builds a close relationship with their professional mentor, experiences like these give them the chance to spend time with other youth who are growing up with Friends by their side. They played, cheered, learned, and laughed together, strengthening their own sense of community.

Watching the world's best players only fueled the excitement. Youth cheered for their favorite teams, picked their heroes, and then showed up to the field wearing those same jerseys, eager to create a few highlight moments of their own. For an afternoon, they weren't just spectators. They were teammates, competitors, and kids completely immersed in the game.

On the field, youth practiced communicating, sharing the ball, encouraging teammates, and working toward a common goal. They experienced the joy of being part of a team and learned that every player has something valuable to contribute.

This is how a spark begins. A child discovers a new passion, finds confidence through practice, and begins to imagine new possibilities. With a Friend beside them every step of the way, that spark can grow into something that lasts far beyond a single summer.

Whether they were wearing their favorite player's jersey, passing to a teammate, or cheering each other on, our youth spent the summer building confidence, friendships, and community, one kick at a time.
