Silvana Granados

Program Manager Lead and Professional Mentor

Silvana was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. As a proud daughter of immigrant parents from El Salvador, they instilled in her hard work and determination. Pursuing a higher education was important for her because her achievements were their achievements. In 2012, she moved to Austin to pursue her bachelor's at The University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated with her BA in Iberian and Latin American Languages and Cultures. During her undergraduate years, Silvana actively participated in Sigma Delta Lambda Sorority, Inc. where she had the opportunity to work alongside different youth-serving programs like Boys and Girls Club and APIE. She also led programming events to support underserved youth in select elementary schools. After college, Silvana served as an AmeriCorps member for two years with Advise TX, guiding low-income and first-generation students toward college. Her own personal life experiences and working with youth these past years has now led her to Friends of the Children, where she has been a Friend for over five years. Silvana's hope is to continue inspiring and empowering the next generation of youth and see the mission of Friends of the Children come full circle when she sees the first cohort of youth's graduate from high school.
