Marco Bustamante was born in Lima, Peru and from an early age, was passionate about soccer, eventually playing in college and on a semi-professional team. Marco moved to the U.S. in 2001. As an immigrant, Marco had to work hard in order to succeed in a new country and with a family and full-time job, pursued higher education in order to further his career. After spending time on the East Coast, Marco moved to Texas where he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Huston-Tillotson University. Marco has worked as a soccer coach, substitute teacher and Teacher’s Assistant at Austin Independent School District and most recently at the American School of Dubai and GEMS Dubai American Academy. Marco and his family returned to Austin in the summer of 2019, and he’s thrilled to be a part of Friends of the Children and to be mentoring children in Austin. Marco’s goal is to use his experience to show children that all things are possible; he strives to be a role model for his family and those around him.
