Jonathan was born in Michoacan, Mexico. His family immigrated to the United States when he was 4 years old. Being an undocumented youth, it was difficult navigating the post-high school education spectrum before the DACA program came to existence in 2012. Having a wonderful mentor and an ever-supportive mother pushed him to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio and graduate in 2018. Volunteering many years in youth soccer enabled him to realize he had a passion for working with the younger generation. Jonathan also helped to bring educational immigration trainings to the community of Fredericksburg, Texas through United We Dream and continues to be an advocate for immigrant rights. Aided by his experience with United We Dream Jonathan was invited to the council of students who lobbied to create a Dreamers Resource Center at UTSA, which has many resources for undocumented and DACAmented students attending and looking to attend the University. Jonathan hopes to continue to motivate, inspire and nurture the next generation.
