Jimena Zavala

Professional Mentor

Jimena Zavala was born and raised in Austin, Texas, as a proud first-generation Mexican-American. She graduated from Huston-Tillotson University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. During her college years, Jimena volunteered and interned at an elementary school, where she mentored students across various grade levels, working closely with the school counselor. This experience ignited her passion for mentoring and highlighted the profound impact she could have on young people’s lives.

After graduation, Jimena became an educational associate, working with special education inclusion programs. This role deepened her interest in teaching, ultimately leading her to become a Kindergarten teacher. In this position, she continued to inspire and support young learners, helping them build a strong foundation for future learning.

In her free time, Jimena enjoys spending quality time with loved ones, watching sports, traveling with her husband, and staying active. She loves exploring new places and creating lasting memories through various adventures. Jimena is thrilled to join the Friends of the Children Austin and looks forward to mentoring students and making a positive impact on their lives, helping them reach their full potential.
