Daphne M. Jones

Program Manager and Professional Mentor

Daphne grew up in a military family in Southern California and moved to Austin in 2001. She initially attended college in Bakersfield but did not complete her studies. Later, while working full time, she returned to school and earned an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies from Austin Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies from Sam Houston State University, with minors in Psychology, Communications, and Political Science. As a devoted mother to two daughters, Daphne spent many years volunteering with Girl Scouts, choir, basketball, and cheerleading. Her passion for mentoring and supporting youth grew through these experiences, and she remains a “second mom” to many of her daughters’ close friends.

Daphne spent 22 years with Austin Independent School District, as a Computer Lab Specialist teaching digital skills, then as an Administrative Assistant, where she built strong relationships with students, families, and the community. Her drive to help young people prepare for life and career led her to become a Professional Mentor with Friends of the Children—an opportunity that aligns with her lifelong dedication to youth empowerment.

In her free time, Daphne enjoys spending time with her daughters and friends, listening to music, crafting, reading, and trying new food. Known for her nurturing spirit and warm smile, she always strives to be a positive influence and make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
