Daphne grew up with a military upbringing in Southern California. She started college in Bakersfield where she did not finish. After she got married, She moved with her family to Austin in 2001. Being a mother to two beautiful daughters kept her active for many years with volunteering for Girl Scouts, Choir, Basketball, and Cheerleading, to name a few. Her love for mentoring, educating, and helping youth was fostered through her volunteering efforts. With her nurturing spirit, she is a 2nd mom to her daughters’ closest friends and still has those relationships to this day.
Daphne worked in Austin Independent School District for 22 years where she was a Computer Lab Specialist teaching computer skill to youth, and then moved to the front office as Administrative Assistant where she built relationships with parents, staff, students, and the community. While working full time, she decided to go back to college. She attended Austin Community College where she received her Associates of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. She continued on to Sam Houston State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Studies, minoring in Psychology, Communications and Political Science. With her degree, she wanted to open doors where she can continue to help mentor youth to be ready for career and life. Becoming a professional mentor with Friends of the Children is an opportunity to do just that.
In her free time, she loves to hang out with her daughters, friends, listen to music, eat good food, craft, and read. Daphne always aspires to be a positive influence and make a difference, all the while having a warm smile.
