Benjamin G. Bazán

Professional Mentor

Benjamin G. Bazán is a bilingual educator, mentor, and coach with more than a decade of experience supporting youth through the arts, athletics, and relationship-based learning. Born in McAllen, Texas and raised in the rural community of La Casita-Garciasville, Benjamin brings a deep cultural understanding and lived experience to his work with youth.

A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Theatre and Dance, Benjamin has committed his career to building trust and resilience in young people through trauma-informed, consistent mentorship. He served most recently as a Middle School Theatre Teacher and Girls Basketball Coach in San Antonio ISD, where he fostered belonging, self-expression, and emotional growth through culturally responsive teaching and coaching.

At Acton Academy in Austin, he developed a whole-child approach as an Athletics Director, Socratic Guide, and Basketball Coach. Across roles, he has prioritized mental wellness, social-emotional learning, and leadership development, helping students thrive in school and beyond.

Benjamin's extensive work with ZACH Theatre and the Austin Theatre Alliance further reflects his belief in the healing power of creativity and storytelling. As a mentor, he leads with empathy, consistency, and accountability—values rooted in his own journey and the relationships that shaped him.

As a Friend, Benjamin is committed to walking alongside youth with unwavering support, helping them build the tools, confidence, and resilience to write their own stories of success.
