Staff: Abbey Johnson

Abbey is the People and Operations Associate for Friends of the Children Austin. Though she officially joined the team full-time in 2021, she has been a dedicated supporter of Friends for several years, serving as a volunteer in 2018 and then as an intern in 2020. During this time, she gained valuable experience across all departments, with a specific focus on honing her people and operations expertise over the last three years.

In 2020, Abbey earned her MA in Nonprofit Management from the University of Houston-Downtown. Before joining Friends Austin, she worked as a full-time nanny, guiding youth through various developmental milestones, nurturing their creative interests, and occasionally playing the ever-evolving character “Ursula” from The Little Mermaid.

Originally from Marlin, Texas, Abbey is the oldest of seven, including her twin sister. In her free time, Abbey enjoys spending time with her family, embarking on outdoor adventures, and playing sports with her long-time partner, Felix, and her sweet lab, Lucy.
