Mel is an attorney with Cantu Harden Montoya LLP, a boutique public finance firm. She recently returned to the public finance after several years as a solo practitioner focused on child welfare and general transactional matters. Mel’s professional experience includes work in both the legal and governmental arena. Mel earned her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. Mel also earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Kansas and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance/Management) from Trinity University. Mel sits on the Board of Girls on the Run Austin (GOTR) (since 2012). She previously served for five years as Board Member of the Court Appointed Family Advocates (CAFA). Mel is passionate about helping children but especially inspiring young girls to become confident, educated and independent women. She is excited to be working with the Friends of the Children Board.
In her spare time, Mel enjoys running with Gilbert’s Gazelles, traveling, and spending time with friends, family and her puppy, Cosmo.
