Growing up in the border town of Del Rio, TX Leenayvia experienced many volunteer opportunities both in the U.S. and Mexico, cultivating experience working with individuals and families from different backgrounds, cultures, and life styles. She has worked as a youth leader and coordinator, Residential Specialist and Residential Specialist Supervisor at Roy Maas Youth Alternatives Residential Treatment Center and as a Community Living Support Specialist and Wraparound Facilitator for the YES Waiver program working with children at risk of out of home placement as well as children in DFPS, ODFPS and DSHS custody who have been diagnosed with behavioral and mental disabilities. She has worked directly with the children, planned and implemented daily and monthly agendas, and become a liaison between volunteers and the organizations. Leenayvia graduated from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi with a Bachelors of Art degrees in Psychology and Sociology. She continued her education, receiving a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University-San Antonio. She has a passion for working with youth, and advocating for individuals who struggle to have a voice of their own.
